Privacy Policy

Draft. This policy describes how Snack Route handles data during internal testing. It will be finalized before external distribution.

Who we are

Snack Route is a solo-built, internally-tested app operated by Matt Hamel. Contact: mhamel06@gmail.com.

What we collect

Phone number. Collected to verify you're a real driver via Twilio Verify. Stored hashed in Supabase; never shared.
Location. Foreground GPS is used to show your position on the map and auto-detect when you've reached a drop. Background location is opt-in and can be disabled in Settings at any time.
Reviews you submit. A tag (green/amber/red + category) attached to an address. Reviews auto-expire after 18 months.
Device & crash telemetry. Anonymous event counts via PostHog (no PII) and crash reports via Sentry (phone numbers and user IDs are scrubbed).

What we don't collect

Your name, email (beyond contact), payment info, or delivery platform credentials.
Customer-identifying information from your deliveries.
Continuous location when the app is closed and background mode is off.

How we use it

Show pins on the map and aggregate them into honest vibe scores for addresses.
Verify you're a real person before you can submit a tag.
Moderate obvious abuse via an automated classifier and a human moderator queue.
Understand drop-off points in onboarding so we can fix them.

Who we share with

Nobody. We don't sell data, run ads, or share with delivery platforms. Service providers who process data on our behalf (Supabase for storage, Twilio for SMS verification, PostHog for analytics, Sentry for crashes, Mapbox for maps) are the only third parties involved, and each is bound by their own privacy terms.

How long we keep it

Reviews: 18 months from submission, then hard-deleted.
Account: until you delete it. Deletion tombstones your profile and hard-deletes your reviews and delivery records.
Analytics events: 12 months rolling in PostHog.

Your rights

Delete your account. Settings → Delete my account. This is immediate and irreversible.
Take down a pin. If a pin is about your own address or looks wrong, tap it → Report & request takedown. Reviewed within 48 hours.
Turn off background location. Settings → Background auto-detect.

Children

Snack Route is not directed at anyone under 18. Delivery driving is an adult activity in every jurisdiction we're aware of.

Changes

When this policy materially changes, we'll update the date at the top and notify signed-in drivers in the app before the change takes effect.
